This week we finished learning the last of our orange lollipop words in class. We will start learning yellow words next week. I hope you are finding the list of games helpful for practicing these words with your child at home. Playing games is more beneficial than using the words merely as flashcards. If you need the list of games again, or would like any additional information of ways to help at home, please let me know prior to Parent/Teacher Interviews this upcoming week. The Jolly Phonics' sounds and actions we learned this week were “w, ng, and v.” We also learned printing the correct formation of letters “w and v” and numbers “2-5.” Further, we learned about predicting this week and have been practicing our prediction skills in language arts. Moreover, we started working on “Read to Someone” in our Daily 5 time. Students are working on choosing and working through three Daily 5 options during the week. We will launch the last two options during the next couple of weeks. Lastly, our science, math, and social studies units are moving along as planned.
Thank you to those who came to the parent literacy night. I hope you found it helpful.
Report cards came out today. If you have problems accessing them online, we will help you during parent/teacher interviews. The information to sign up for these interviews was provided in the report card envelope. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RETURN THE ENVELOPE (SIGNED) AT THE INTERVIEW. Furthermore, during these interviews it is a great idea to bring your child. At this time, we can set up a goal that your child can focus on for the next reporting period. It is beneficial for students to take part in their learning and be accountable for their progress.
