Happy Friday Families!
A big thank you again to those who helped make our Halloween party so spook-tacular! In addition to our Halloween party, we learned about the sound and action for the letters "ie," talked and wrote about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies, continued our science colour unit, and started working on subitizing in math. Subitizing is the ability to "see" a number of items without counting them. For example, when we roll the dice we know it's a 6 without counting the dots. Subitizing makes us quicker and better at math. We also connected the concept of subitizing to our lollipop sight words. With these words we practice them so we can look at them and read the entire word without needing to sound it out, or stretch out the letter sounds.
This week I also sent out information on how to log into RAZ Kids. Please take this information out of your child's agenda and keep it at home so it doesn't get lost. Contact me with any questions on how to use this program to support your child's reading.
Important for next week:
Division I is on the spiderweb playground starting on Monday.
November 7: Picture Retake Day
November 8: School Council Meeting 6:30 p.m.
November 9: Remembrance Day Assembly 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
November 10: No School for students: District PL Day
November 11: Remembrance Day: No School
